Montecito Apartment Building
6650 Franklin Avenue
Hollywood, CA 90028
West of Cahuenga, East of Highland
Built in 1931 by Marcus Miller. The architect looked to the Art Deco skyscraper when he produced this ten story building. As with most Art Deco structures, the windows are arranged in vertical bands, and classic Art Deco ornament enriches the base and top of the building. In 1987 the building was carefully restored for use as moderate rent apts.
Fine example of art deco style with Mayan influence, listed in National Register of Historical Places. One of many apartment-hotel residences built during Hollywood’s Golden Era. Was home to Mickey Rooney, Geraldine Page, Rip Torn, Don Johnson, George C. Scott, Ben Vereen and Ronald Reagan. Now a residence for seniors.
