Hollywood Arts Council Celebrating 25 Years of Service
to the Community and the Arts

The Council was formed in 1978 by people in the community concerned about the role the arts would play in planning issues. Since that time, the Council has been continually involved with citizen groups participating in efforts to revitalize Hollywood.
Highlights of the Hollywood Arts Councilís accomplishments through the years include the annual Childrenís Festival of the Arts, outdoor art shows for local artists, promoting the wealth of arts activities available through Discover Hollywood Magazine, the Jazz Pilgrimage Concert Sept. 20 and the annual Charlie Awards Luncheon held the last Friday of January.
Through the years the community has changed and the need for arts activities for elementary school children has become a priority. Project SOAR (Students Overcoming All Risks), the Councilís after school program, provides over 2,000 4th and 5th graders with quality art instruction and an opportunity to explore their own creativity.
The Council relies on donations and its volunteers to carry out its programs. Everyone interested in the arts and in the unique culture of Hollywood is invited to join. The Council receives support from the Los Angeles County Performing Arts Commission, City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, Klasky-Csupo, Inc., American Express, Eastman Kodak Company, Pacific Bell, Paramount Pictures, Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International, the Entertainment Industry Foundation, the Eisner Foundation and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Community Foundation, to name a few.
The Hollywood Arts Council has emerged as the voice for Hollywood's unique culture and a strong advocate for the impact arts can have on the life of a community. The Council has renewed its dedication to promoting, nurturing and supporting the arts and is evolving to meet new challenges and opportunities.
