TrizecHahn Entertainment Complex
Northwest Corner of Hollywood and Highland
On the corner of Propect (previous name of Hollywood Blvd.) and Highland stood the once world famous Hollywood Hotel which was built in 1903. Constuction of an additional 104 rooms was completed in 1907. The Hollywood Hotel was frequented by Hollywood's biggest stars and international dignitaries. The hotel was demolished in 1956 for high-rise development. That high-rise development was in turn demolished in 1998 for the new TrizecHahn development. The MTA Red Line Hollywood/Highland subway station is being built on the lot, as well as a permanent home for the Academy Awards theater and a multimedia entertainment complex complete with shops, restaurants, and live performances. This development represents the most ambitious efforts of revitalizing a new Hollywood.
